Parallel to “Pop Art Design”, an exhibition on Erwin Wurm will be shown in the Vitra Design Museum Gallery. Wurm’s oeuvre typifies the continuing impact of Pop Art and popular culture on the work of many artists and designers up to the present. The Austrian sculptor and installation artist Erwin Wurm is one of the most successful and popular artists of our time. In a unique presentation for the Vitra Design Museum Gallery, he will display several familiar works as well as new pieces that were specially created for this temporary exhibition, in which houses seem to mirror human personalities. Full of allusions to our everyday culture, as well as to the neighbouring architecture of Frank Gehry and Herzog & de Meuron, Wurm also makes a topical statement on the relationship of Pop Art and design. |
