Il primo maggio si svolgerà a Roma l’inaugurazione della London Biennale 2016 e del 10° anniversario di Studio.ra. SYNCHRONISATIONS – SYNCOPATIONS è la tematica della IX London Biennale, scelta da David Medalla, fondatore e direttore della London Biennale e da Adam Nankervis, coordinatore internazionale, nonchè direttore dello spazio sperimentale Another Vacant Space a Berlino.

La London Biennale è stata ideata nel 1997 sull’isola di Robyn a Città del Capo in Sud Africa, dall’artista di fama internazionale filippino David Medalla con l’artista, coordinatore internationale Australiano, Adam Nankervis. Nel 1998 il suo fondatore concettuale David Medalla, con sede a Londra, e il coordinatore internazionale Adam Nankervis, danno inizio alla prima London Biennale. Il fondatore-direttore David Medalla in ogni edizione assegna il tema della Biennale. L’evento internazionale si propone di trasformare la nozione di ‘biennale’ nel mondo dell’arte, lanciando frontiere aperte e favorendo un autentico dialogo in una grande comunità tra numerosi artisti e il pubblico. La London Biennale è aperta a tutti gli artisti e amanti dell’arte nel mondo. L’adesione è libera e gratuita. Nel corso degli anni, la Biennale di Londra si è ampliata con eventi satelliti simultanei che si sono svolti a Parigi, Rio de Janeiro, Roma, Berlino, New York, Boston e Las Vegas. La prima impollinazione a Manila, nella Repubblica delle Filippine si svolgerà nel mese di settembre 2016

Studio.ra è un’associazione culturale senza scopo di lucro, fondata e diretta da Raffaella Losapio. E’ un laboratorio internazionale in continuo divenire, aperto alla ricerca e alla sperimentazione artistica attraverso le nuove tecnologie della comunicazione. Lo spazio apre nel 2006 con la sua inaugurazione, unitamente alla retrospettiva sulla London Biennale 2004. Studio.ra prosegue l’attività negli anni successivi, proponendo gli artisti internazionali della London Biennale in Italia e nel mondo. Lo spazio si trova adiacente alla Valle della Caffarella, un luogo che rappresenta un bene straordinario sia dal punto di vista storico-archeologico che ambientale paesistico.

Lo studio-galleria RO.MI., aperta nel 2004, ha realizzato da allora eventi culturali multimediali: mostre di arte figurativa contemporanea, installazioni, performance, videoinsallazioni e rassegne di videoart. Collabora in vari importanti eventi artistici con la galleria Studio.ra.

The Finale of LONDON BIENNALE 2016 will be in London on the First of July 2016.
A previous London Biennale opened in Paris, France.

London Biennale History

The London Biennale was founded in 1998 by David Medalla.
It has evolved into an artist community loosely based around London and the biennial events that take place there.
Totalling over 300 artists, the Biennale organisation is not restricted to London, playing an active part in international events such as, Rio Trajetorias, Rio de Jainero, curated by Christiana de Melo and the 2003 Changing Channels event in Berlin, a pollination initiated byAdam Nankervis show casing works of 200 artists in three locations over Berlin.
Pollinations have continued, as artists incentives globally since the London Biennale inauguration May 1 2000.
