Il secondo appuntamento dell’edizione 2012 di Postcard from<\/i>…<\/b>, che vede protagonista l’artista Claire Fontaine<\/b>, inaugurerà il 16 marzo presso la sede di Via degli Ausoni 7 a<\/st1:metricconverter> Roma e sarà visibile fino al 16 maggio. Il progetto a cura di Marcello Smarrelli, direttore artistico della Fondazione, è volto a diffondere l’arte contemporanea nel contesto urbano<\/b>. Realizzato in collaborazione con A.P.A. Agenzia Pubblicità Affissioni, vede il coinvolgimento di artisti italiani e internazionali invitati a ideare un manifesto<\/span> di 400×300 cm, la dimensione in uso nella cartellonistica pubblicitaria, esposto nel cortile del Pastificio Cerere e in vari impianti della città messi a disposizione da A.P.A. (elenco aggiornato sul sito internet della Fondazione<\/font> <\/font>www.pastificiocerere.it<\/font><\/span><\/a><\/b>).<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Contemporaneamente, verrà inaugurata la mostra personale di Claire Fontaine<\/b> dal titolo La chiave<\/i><\/b>, che sarà una ideale prosecuzione dei temi trattati nel manifesto. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Promuovere progetti artistici che favoriscono la crescita culturale e sociale, nonché la diffusione dell’arte contemporanea, è uno dei principali obiettivi perseguiti dalla Fondazione Pastificio Cerere. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Claire Fontaine è un collettivo di artisti nato a Parigi nel 2004, prende il nome da una popolare marca francese di quaderni e si definisce “un’artista ready-made”, riferendosi a se stessa con la terza persona singolare femminile. In sintonia con la lezione di Marcel Duchamp – il primo ad elevare l’oggetto ordinario alla dignità dell’arte – il collettivo utilizza media diversi, sconfinando dal territorio dell’arte a quello della cultura visiva contemporanea e muovendosi in un ambito di pseudo anonimato, tale da negare o contraddire principi quali abilità personale, autorialità e originalità. Claire Fontaine basa la propria indagine sull'impegno costante con cui monitora la cultura e la politica contemporanea. Utilizza l'arte come dispositivo sensibile all'individuazione e all'analisi di tematiche sociopolitiche che la preoccupano, tra le quali spicca lo studio della “comunizzazione” degli spazi privati: elemento che lega la poetica dell’artista alla storia del Pastificio Cerere: ex fabbrica attiva dai primi del novecento e dismessa nel 1960, si è poi ripopolata con quel gruppo di artisti denominato “Scuola di San Lorenzo” che, occupandone gli spazi e facendone i loro ateliers, hanno contribuito alla trasformazione di questo luogo, rendendolo un punto di riferimento per la diffusione e la formazione legata all’arte contemporanea. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Comunistico<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i>è realizzato riproducendo due pagine dell’ultima edizione del vocabolario Zingarelli<\/span><\/b> in cui si trovano parole con la stessa radice di “comune<\/b>”, ognuna elencata e dovutamente spiegata. “È un lavoro che cambia dimensione alla pagina del dizionario, decontestualizzandola, per permettere al passante di comprendere il senso nudo di parole al di fuori del loro contesto e che generalmente affrontano il problema della condivisione, del vivere insieme, dello spazio comune” – dice l’artista – “l’opera non è però un dispositivo ermeticamente chiuso: la presenza di parole quali ‘computer’ e ‘compulsivo’ su quelle due pagine stimola la libera associazione di idee di chi legge”. <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Parallelamente all’intervento dell’artista per Postcard from<\/i>…, è prevista una sua personale all’interno della Fondazione Pastificio Cerere, dove il tema del bene comune e della condivisione degli spazi vengono efficacemente trattati e rappresentati attraverso più dispositivi. Bump key<\/i><\/b> <\/i>è un’opera realizzata con il neon che raffigura un tipo di chiave che, infilata in qualunque serratura e colpita leggermente con un martello, può aprire tutte le porte senza effrazione. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Come in molte sue opere, Claire Fontaine affronta la questione della proprietà privata attraverso la metafora della porta chiusa. La “bump key” è un oggetto legalmente venduto che rende completamente inutile l’uso delle serrature tradizionali, ovviamente poco pubblicizzato per evitare di allarmare i cittadini o di attirare l’interesse dei malintenzionati. L’opera, che riproduce fedelmente la parte dentellata della chiave e fornisce le direttive utili a chi volesse costruirne una, vuole essere un monito che porta a riflettere su quanto precario sia il nostro senso di sicurezza e la nostra idea di proprietà privata<\/b>. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Il film Counterpoison<\/b><\/i> <\/b><\/span><\/span>(Antidoto<\/i>), è la trascrizione di un viaggio all’interno di un edificio in rovina. In un quartiere popolare di Glasgow, un teatro abbandonato aspetta pazientemente l'arrivo delle ruspe, mentre immagini semi-buie sono filmate. Nel frattempo, i ragazzi della strada ne distruggono, giorno dopo giorno, il palcoscenico rimasto senza pubblico e bruciano le poltrone vuote. Di notte, animali randagi vi trovano rifugio e si intravvedono una volpe ed un piccione, allegorie della vita clandestina nelle aree urbane. Sta allo spettatore indovinare contro che cosa questa discesa cieca e muta potrebbe funzionare da antidoto. Attualmente, l'edificio è stato raso al suolo e la sola cosa che resta sono le immagini del film, accompagnate dal rumore del respiro dell’operatore video. <\/span>A questo luogo, che ha subito nel corso degli anni diverse destinazioni d’uso, è riferito un altro lavoro in mostra, l’object trouvé<\/i> che rappresenta il light box<\/i> Mecca<\/i><\/b>, dal nome della catena omonima della quale faceva parte la sala bingo allestita dentro il teatro.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Il progetto è realizzato in contemporanea alla mostra presso la galleria T293, in via dei Leutari 32 a<\/st1:metricconverter> Roma, visibile dal 17 marzo, giorno dell’inaugurazione, fino al 15 maggio 2012.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Claire Fontaine<\/span><\/b> concepisce l’arte come un dispositivo utile a posizionarsi rispetto a eventi sociopolitici, che affonda le sue radici nel lavoro di pensatori contemporanei quali Giorgio Agamben, Walter Benjamin, Jacques Rancière e Gilles Deleuze. La sua ricerca può essere descritta come un’interrogazione in progress sull’impotenza politica e la crisi della singolarità che sembrano caratterizzare l’arte al giorno d’oggi. The second appointment of the 2012 edition of Postcard from…<\/i><\/b>, whose protagonist is the artist Claire Fontaine<\/b>, is opening on March 16th<\/sup> at the venue of Via degli Ausoni 7 in<\/st1:metricconverter> Rome and will be viewable until May 16th<\/sup>. The project by Marcello Smarrelli, artistic director of the Foundation, aims at spreading contemporary art through urban context. <\/b>Realized in cooperation with A.P.A Agenzia Pubblicità Affisioni, it involves Italian and international artists in the creation of a 400×300 cm manifesto, the dimension adopted by poster designing, exposed both within Pastificio Cerere’s yard and upon various fixtures offered by A.P.A throughout the city (updated list can be found at: <\/font><\/span>www.pastificiocerere.it<\/font><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/b>).<\/o:p><\/b><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the personal show by Claire Fontaine entitled La Chiave<\/st1:personname>, will open. An ideal prosecution of the themes described within the manifesto.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The promotion of art projects which support cultural and social growth, as well as the propagation of contemporary art, is one of the main aims pursued by Fondazione Pastificio Cerere.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Claire Fontaine is a collective of artists born in Paris, in 2004, named after a famous French brand of notebooks and it defines itself as a “ready-made artist”, using the third person feminine singular. On the same wave-length of Marcel Duchamp’s lesson –the first who raised ordinary objects to the dignity of art- the collective uses different media, straying from the land of art to contemporary visual culture and moving through a pseudo anonymous area, which denies or contradicts principles such as personal ability, authority and originality. Claire Fontaine’s research is based upon the constant engagement employed to monitor contemporary culture and politics. It uses Art as a device sensitive to the detection and analysis of sociopolitical subjects which get herself worried, among which the study of the communization of private spaces stand out: an element binding the poetics of the artist to Pastificio Cerere’s history: an ex-factory working since the beginning of the twentieth century and unused since 1960, which came back to life thanks to a group of artists called “Scuola di San Lorenzo” who, occupying and turning its spaces into ateliers, contributed to the transformation of this place, converting it into a reference point for the circulation and teaching of contemporary art.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Comunistico <\/span><\/i><\/b>is realized by reproducing two pages of the last edition of the Zingarelli dictionary<\/span><\/b>, in which words having the same roots of ‘common’, each one listed and explained, can be found. ”The project changes the dimension of the page of the dictionary, decontextualizing it, allowing the audience to understand the inner sense of these words which in most cases deal with the problem of participating, living together, sharing places” –the artist says- “however, the artwork is not hermetically closed: the presence of words like ‘computer’ and ‘compulsive’ stimulates free association of ideas within the readers”.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

In parallel with the intervention of the artist for Postcard from…<\/i>, a personal exhibition within Fondazione Pastificio Cerere is planned, successfully representing the idea of common good and shared places through the use of various devices. Bump Key<\/b> is a neon work of art, reproducing a key which, inserted into any lock and gently hit with a hammer, can open any door without forcing. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Many Claire Fontaine’s works deal with private property through the metaphor of closed doors. The “bump key” is a legally sold object, which renders the employment of traditional locks useless, obviously poorly advertised to avoid panic among citizens and interest among delinquents. The piece of art, which faithfully reproduces the indented part of the key and provides the instructions to assemble it, aims at being a warning about the precariousness of our sense of safety and our idea of private property<\/b>. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The movie Counterpoison <\/i><\/b>is the transcription of a journey through a derelict building. Within a housing estate of Glasgow, an abandoned theatre is waiting to be destroyed by the excavators, while dark images are filmed. In the meantime, street children wreck, day by day, its stage left without audience and burn its empty seats. At night, stray animals use it as a shelter and a fox and a pigeon, allegories of clandestine life within urban areas, can be glimpsed. Duty of the observer is to guess what could be the antidote against this blind and silent fall. At present time, the building has been razed to the ground and only the images of the movie remain, accompanied by the cameraman’s breath. This place, which has undergone many uses through the years, inspires another work of the exhibition, the object trouvé<\/i> representing the light box Mecca<\/b><\/i>, named after the homonymous chain of the bingo hall mounted into the theatre. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The project is presented simultaneously with the exhibition at the T293 gallery, at Via dei Leutari 32 in<\/st1:metricconverter> Rome, open to the public from March 17th<\/sup>, day of the inauguration, until May 15th<\/sup> 2012.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Claire Fontaine<\/span><\/b> conceives art as a device able to place itself within sociopolitical events, rooting in the works by contemporary thinkers like Giorgio Agamben, Walter Benjamin, Jacques Rancière e Gilles Deleuze. Her investigation can be described as a reflection in progress upon the political impotence and the crisis of uniqueness which seem to characterize art nowadays. According to her, making art is the only way to face the questions of present times –such as individuality and collectivity- which concern her.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n
