I profeti e i rivoluzionari: Tutto ciò gioverà a farci comprendere perché sì spesso i grandi progressi politici e religiosi delle nazioni siano attuati od almeno determinati da pazzi o semi-pazzi. – Gli è che in essi soltanto si può trovare accoppiata all’originalità, che è propria dei geni e dei pazzi, e più ancora di quelli che sono l’uno e l’altro insieme, l’esaltazione capace di generare una tal dose di altruismo che valga a sacrificare i proprio interessi e la vita per far conoscere e spesso accettare i nuovi veri al pubblico, a cui ogni novazione è sempre inaccetta.
