La Fondazione Pastificio<\/span><\/st1:personname> Cerere inizia il programma del 2012 con il primo appuntamento della seconda edizione di Postcard from…<\/i>, il progetto ideato e curato da Marcello Smarrelli, direttore artistico della Fondazione, volto a diffondere l’arte contemporanea nel contesto urbano. Il poster, dal titolo Nucleohistone<\/span><\/i>, è <\/span><\/span>realizzato dal<\/span><\/span>l’artista inglese Damien Hirst e viene presentato nel cortile della Fondazione Pastificio Cerere venerdì 13 gennaio, dalle 18.30 alle 21.30.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

L’iniziativa, r<\/span>ealizzata in collaborazione con A.P.A. – Agenzia Pubblicità Affissioni, prevede ogni anno il coinvolgimento di quattro artisti invitati a ideare un manifesto<\/span> di dimensioni 400×300 cm, la dimensione in uso nella cartellonistica pubblicitaria. Il poster, oltre ad essere affisso su una struttura installata nel cortile del Pastificio Cerere, è esposto per i due mesi successivi in dieci impianti di Roma gestiti da A.P.A. – con il turnover<\/i> di quattordici giorni tipico delle affissioni pubblicitarie – il cui elenco viene aggiornato sul sito internet della Fondazione www.pastificiocerere.it<\/span><\/a>.<\/span> <\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Il manifesto di Damien Hirst sarà visibile fino al 10 marzo 2011 e per tutto il periodo sarà eccezionalmente installato anche nella hall del MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma<\/span>.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

“Postcard from…<\/i> nasce dal desiderio di portare l’arte dove non ci si aspetterebbe di trovarla” – spiega Marcello Smarrelli – “Mi piace l’idea che i passanti – com’è accaduto lo scorso anno con i progetti degli artisti Raphäel Zarka, Reto Pulfer, Massimo Grimaldi e Lara Almarcegui<\/span> –<\/span> <\/span>diventino spettatori involontari di un’opera d’arte. Spero che questo progetto possa contribuire a realizzare un’esperienza percettiva inconsueta che renda il pensiero degli spettatori più libero e flessibile, lo alleggerisca per un istante permettendo loro di godere di un’opera fuori dai luoghi espositivi tradizionali, come musei o gallerie, dove sappiamo già di essere di fronte a qualcosa che viene classificato come arte”. Stimolare il pensiero e promuovere progetti artistici che favoriscano la crescita culturale e sociale è infatti uno dei principali obiettivi perseguiti dalla Fondazione Pastificio Cerere. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Le straordinarie opere di Hirst trattano temi di grande impatto per la società contemporanea, quali il concetto di mortalità,<\/span> la dipendenza della società attuale dall’industria dei farmaci, la presenza della scienza e della religione nella nostra vita. Il manifesto scelto per Postcard from…<\/i> appartiene al celebre ciclo degli Spot Paintings<\/span><\/i>, <\/i><\/span>iniziato <\/i>nel 1988 e la cui produzione continua ancora oggi. Il titolo dell’opera riprodotta nel manifesto è Nucleohistone<\/i> (2008-2011), <\/span><\/span><\/span>termine composto che si riferisce alla struttura formata da proteine e DNA contenuta nel nucleo delle cellule. Il lavoro è infatti ispirato dalla passione dell’artista per l’estetica della medicina. <\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Postcard from…<\/span><\/i><\/span> Damien Hirst<\/i> è realizzato in contemporanea a “The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011”<\/st1:metricconverter>, una mostra personale dell’artista dedicata interamente ai suoi Spot Paintings<\/i>, e presentata simultaneamente in tutte e undici le Gagosian Gallery nel mondo, nelle sedi di New York, Londra, Parigi, Los Angeles, Roma, Atene, Ginevra, Hong Kong, con un’unica data inaugurale, il 12 gennaio 2012. Presso la galleria Gagosian di Roma la mostra sarà visitabile fino al 10 marzo.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Fondazione Pastificio Cerere will inaugurate its 2012 program with the second edition of Postcard from…<\/i>, a project conceived and curated by the Fondazione’s Art Director, Marcello Smarrelli, and aimed at diffusing contemporary art in urban contexts.  <\/span>Produced in collaboration with<\/span> A.P.A. – Agenzia Pubblicità Affissioni, Postcard from… <\/i>involves four artists yearly who each create a<\/span> poster measuring 400×300 cm, dimensions of which reflect those used in billboard advertising. <\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s first poster, Postcard from… <\/i><\/span>Damien Hirst Nucleohistone<\/i>,<\/span> <\/span>was realized by internationally renowned British artist<\/span><\/span> Damien Hirst, and will be displayed at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere until 10 March, 2012.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>The poster will be installed in the Fondazione’s courtyard and will also be circulated in ten facilities in Rome managed by A.P.A. with the standard 14-day advertising turnover. An updated <\/span>list of locations can be consulted on Pastificio Cerere’s website <\/span>www.pastificiocerere.it<\/span><\/a><\/span>.  <\/span>Over the course of the exhibition, Hirst’s poster will also be on show at the main entrance of Rome’s MACRO– Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma museum.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Postcard from…<\/i> positions art where we least expect it to be,” muses Smarrelli. “I love the idea that passers-by can unintentionally become spectators of an artwork, as occurred during the previous edition with artists Raphäel Zarka, Reto Pulfer, Massimo Grimaldi and Lara Almarcegui<\/span>. I hope this project will open up a unique perceptive experience by allowing its audience to appreciate art beyond the traditional realm of gallery and museum exhibition spaces, where one is already made aware of being faced with a work of art.” One of Pastificio Cerere’s main objectives is to stimulate the mind and promote art projects that foster cultural and social growth and open-mindedness.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hirst’s extraordinary body of work tackles wholly relevant issues in today’s society: the concept of mortality, contemporary society’s dependence on the pharmaceutical industry, and the role of science and religion in our lives.  <\/span>For this project, Hirst selected a work that is representative of his “Spot Paintings” series, which he has been producing <\/i>since <\/i>1<\/span><\/span>988. The title of the work, Nucleohistone (2008-2011<\/span><\/i><\/span>), refers to the DNA and protein structure within the cell’s nucleus and reflects the artist’s passion for medical aesthetics.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Postcard from…<\/span><\/i><\/span> Damien Hirst<\/i> is realized in conjunction with <\/span>Gagosian Gallery’s exhibition The Complete Spot Paintings 1986–2011<\/i> by Damien Hirst.
